Adorable dog finds his way home five years after he vanished from home

A sweet elderly dog who vanished more than five years ago has been found 600 miles from his Nebraska home and reunited with his overjoyed owner.
The four-legged friend named Chong escaped from Inmaculada Jackman’s home in 2021 and his family spent years searching for him with no luck.
‘I still looked for him,’ Jackman told WKRC. ‘We still went to our old neighborhood and drove around and looked to see if we could see anyone walking him or if he was running around somewhere.’
The search for Chong finally ended when she saw an animal shelter post announcing the pup had been found behind a truck stop in Indiana.
The Hendricks County Animal Shelter said he’d been microchipped by another person after disappearing.
‘Our staff worked hard over the few days we had him to make contact with the Lincoln Nebraska Animal Control, microchip company and original owner,’ the shelter said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
‘The microchip owner never came forward and never responded, but we were more than happy to reunite Chong with his original family!’

The owner shared a touching video of the moment she was reunited with Chong, posting pH๏τos of the emotional embrace on Facebook Friday.
‘I am so happy to say Chong is finally home! He ran away from us five years ago and we were not able to find him! I was told someone took him,’ she wrote in the post.
‘He was found behind a truck stop in Indiana the other day where he was for three days before going to the animal shelter.
‘He had a chip (I did not have him chipped), so they ran it and it came back to a Lincoln address. So he was posted on the Lincoln pages.
‘I was sent the post and contacted the animal shelter the next morning and explained my story, however, since he was chipped to someone else, they had to follow protocol,’ she continued in the post.
‘They attempted to contact the phone numbers on file however they did not receive a response after the three days they had to wait.’
After the three day waiting period, Chong was available to be picked up – so Jackman made the 600 mile drive to Indiana to get her pup back.
‘Everyone is so happy and still in shock!’ She added.
The Hendricks County Animal Shelter in Indiana called the reuniting ‘beautiful.’ adding there were ‘no dry eyes’ when Jackman picked up Chong.
